Clackamas Community College is offering a short, 1 credit, unique class about an animation technique that goes back almost to the beginning of film itself, and is currently used by prominent Portland area studios Laika and Bent Image Lab among others; Stop Motion Animation.
We will learn through doing starting with creating posable characters via modeling and casting with plastic and rubber, and use the molds in conjunction with armatures and supports. We will create sets for the characters, and any necessary props. |
Animating is a slow and careful process which will be helped by the use of Dragonframe software, which works in conjunction with and can control cameras and lights.
Post production will consist of compositing, editing, sound integration and adding special effects with Adobe After Effects. This class is taught by instructor Chris Dreger, who has worked on the post-production end of stop motion productions, such as a Post Fruity Pebbles Flinstones Stop Motion production, the Hallmark Channel's Jingle and Bell Christmas specials, and other commercial spots.
